RIPPER STRIKES AGAIN!!
It has been reported that the so-called ripper has struck outside the gates of our fine city of Civitas. The local authorities have instituted a mandatory order to stay off the streets after the tenth watch. The second victim was a servant woman of a local merchant, who has asked that his name be withheld. Do to the growing concern that this may be an act of terrorism from the bandits, the institution of marshal law and mobilization of troops is being considered for all outlying towns and border posts under Civitas control.
Massive Sewer and Aqueduct Project to Begin
To celebrate the newly restructured government of Civitas– a government for the people, by the people– infrastructure projects are due to begin this summer. All citizens are encouraged to contribute to this project in the spirit of harmonious communal living.
The Cilicians have generously provided some much needed labor to kick these projects off. The City of Civitas would like to thank them for their show of resource management. “We look forward to many years of productive cooperation, thanks to the leadership example of the Cilicians.” says Lord Servilius.
Lord Servilius retains his title for diplomatic purposes. Under the guidance of the Civitas leadership, Lord Servilius and Lady D’Nea Ru graciously stepped down as ‘Rulers’ and took on roles of public servants.
Cilician Orphan Fund
The Cilicians have generously donated a building and funds to start an orphanage. Citizens are encouraged to do their part by volunteering to teach and provide mentoring for the poor unfortunates who will reside in this facility.
Qualified citizens will also be eligible to adopt an orphan. To get qualified contact the Cilician Outreach and Training center. The first step is Registration!
To expedite citizen registration, the Cilicians have provided a form that can be brought to the Office of Citizen Conformity.
All households are entitled to at least one Civic Laborer. By registering properly, you may be entitled to extra labor.
You must be an actual Citizen of Civitas to qualify. Citizens are defined as Certified right thinking Humans, Elves or Dwarves. Barbarians are also eligible for Citizenry, upon completion of a short educational course.
The benefits of Citizenry are numerous! You enjoy the privileges of a community of equal and respected members. You are entitled to the full support of the Order of Temperance and the considerable resources of the Cilicians. Both are at your disposal as a certified Citizen when helping to rebuild our peaceful society. Citizenship is not just a great idea– it’s the Law!

Pinocht Shifteyes is the suspected leader of the Anti Establishment Brigade.
Last seen near the Dragonsweir Tavern on the road between Civitas and Kegslayer Mines.
He is considered armed and dangerous. He is expected to be travelling with non-registered scavengers. Take extreme care when confronting this group. It is highly advised that you do not attempt to engage in discussions with the group as their doctrine is highly inflammatory and may instill false and damaging beliefs. The reward is 5 gold for live capture of the leader. 1 gold per Brigade member. 10 gold for the bodies of all.
The Orcsmasher Clan of north Civitas is the winners of the 50/50 raffle to benefit the Cilician Orphan Fund. Clive Orcsmasher generously donated his winnings to the Order of Temperance Veteran’s Retirement Fund.
The Orcsmashers are a newly relocated Dwarven Clan. They are Fine examples of Citizens and Dwarves. The members are particularly proud of their intricately braided beards.
The Orcsmashers will be the first names on the rosters for future Civic Laborers once the Orphanage is running smoothly.

The Role of Women in Civitas Society
Civitas needs its women! Women of Civitas have thrown themselves into their new roles as caretakers of Civitas society.
As registered Citizens, women are no longer tied to their kitchens or knitting baskets. Civic laborers are now available to perform these time consuming and tedious tasks for you! Under your expert direction, these laborers will free up your days so that you can spend them on more important matters– such as taking care of your husbands and raising right thinking children.
You will know a proper Civitas woman by her unyielding faith in her husband. She does not question the demands of raising a family, but welcomes the challenges of daily life with a pleasing and uplifting demeanor. She is always properly dressed and by example shows less educated women how to behave.
Proper Dress
Otherwise known as how to avoid a stoning.
It has come to our attention that a tragically misled Human woman was stoned to death for improper dress. She was mistaken, and rightfully so, for a Gypsy.
To avoid further confusion the Office of Conformance has issued a dress code.
No cleavage
Skirts must fall below knees, ankles must be covered
Excessively bright or ornate clothing is undesirable. Women should strive to allow their mates to be the center of attention.

Start your own neighborhood watch! It is vitally important for the continued progress of our great society to keep a vigilant eye upon ourselves and our neighbors.
Don’t think of it as turning someone in; think of it as presenting him or her with an opportunity for re-education. Everyone is vulnerable to a slip in judgment on occasion. Especially during this time of transition. We must be patient with our friends and family as they make this adjustment.
However, if you find that you are still arguing with your wife over minor things such as who should be emptying bedpans– you may benefit from sending her name in to the Office of Conformance for re-education. She will thank you in the end.

Children of Civitas– Join the Right Rangers
Children of Civitas no longer have to go to school!! All proper education can be achieved by joining the Right Rangers. Learn the values of goodness, civic duty, and right thinking by living that way.
Boys will be given martial training so that they can do a tour of duty with the Order of Temperance someday– the highest honor they can hope to attain.
Girls can join the Light Rangers and learn how to effectively manage a household.
Older boys may learn how to deal with non conformists and travelers who may need a little guidance. They can also join the Outreach Cilicians for a time to help other cities reach their full potential.
